This article applies to:

Windows Server 2012

Exchange 2013 CU2

ESX 5.1

PROBLEM

Microsoft Exchange Health Manager service dos not start after reboot, although it's start type is set to Auto.

If you attempt to start it manually, it will start without a problem.

CAUSE

This usually happens if Exchange services start before other services on which Exchange depends on, are started.

WORKAROUND

A simple workaround is to change the startup type of affected Exchange Services from Automatic to Automatic (Delayed Start). This will start the Exchange services with a delay of 120 seconds which gives enough time to the system to start other services needed by Exchange.

The service startup type can be changed via Windows Server Manager by selecting Tools / Services in the top right menu.  Right click the service you want to modify and select Properties. Change startup type to Automatic (Delayed Start).
